A TRAGIC INCIDENT UNFOLDED IN ADAMAWA AS A MAN TAKES HIS MOTHER'S LIFE ALLEGING WITCHCRAFT

SADIQ IDRISSU, A RESIDENT OF ADAMAWA STATE, HAS CONFESSED TO THE MURDER OF HIS MOTHER, ALLEGING HER INVOLVEMENT IN WITCHCRAFT. CURRENTLY IN CUSTODY, SADIQ ADMITTED TO THE ACT, CLAIMING HE BELIEVED HIS MOTHER PRACTICED WITCHCRAFT.

Currently in police custody, 30-year-old Sadiq, detained by the Adamawa State Police Command, expressed remorse for his father, who endured his mother's involvement in witchcraft. Sadiq, a resident of Boga in the Gombi Local Government Area, admitted to fatally shooting his mother on December 5.

Despite confessing to the police about the act, Sadiq lacked guilt, stating, "I feel sorry for my father because he married her and has been with her for a long time." He believed his mother was a witch, citing accusations over the past two years and unsettling experiences at night.

Under the influence of a hazardous drug mixture called "Suck and Die," Sadiq claimed his mother appeared to him as a witch in a dream, causing distress and sleepless nights. One night, suspecting her involvement in witchcraft, he shot her twice after finding his sister alone at midnight and assuming his mother had gone out.

The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed Sadiq's arrest, stating that the motive behind the killing was an accusation of witchcraft. The state's commissioner of police, Afolabi Babatola, ordered the case to be investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
